Astrid Lindgren is one of the most translated authors in the world and one of Sweden’s most well-known writers. Famous for, among others, the Pippi Longstocking books, she was also an influential voice on issues such as corporal punishment and animal rights. The documentary ‘Astrid’, shown courtesy of the Swedish Embassy, and with an introduction by the Swedish Ambassador H.E. Mr Staffan Herrström, looks at Lindgren’s life and work. Using archive material it looks at where she got her ideas and iconic status.
