We will meet at Mango Tree, Charoenkrung Soi 36, at 2 pm. Here we will hear a bit about the start of The East Asiatic Company in Thailand over a coffee.

We will then walk about 300 m. to the company’s old head office. We can only see the building from the outside.

There will be a boat waiting at the pier at Oriental Hotel next door, which will take us to Asiatique. From there we will walk about 500 m. to the protestant cemetery, where we will talk about some of the Scandinavians who have made a contribution to history in Thailand.

From the cemetery we walk back to Asiatique where we identify some of the buildings that used to be part of EAC’s activities in the past.

We will end the exploration with dinner in Joe Louis, which used to be a bachelors’ mess for young EAC staff.

There will be no participation fee as participants will pay for their own coffee and dinner.

However for logistical purposes, we need to know who will participate not later than Monday 26th October.

Please advise whether you will participate in the dinner or only in the tour.

Reservations can be made to:
